Mox Invitational Prologue:

The Mox Invitational is a really cool system that Mox Boarding House in Bellevue runs over a six month period. To qualify for the sixteen-man tournament at the end of the season, you have to be in the top sixteen for Mox Championship Points, which can be earned by winning Masters events, winning games in Masters events, and, to a lesser extent, participating in other events for non-Masters formats.

A few months ago, I took Vindictus to a Masters event there and won, which more or less qualified me for this event. (You can read those battle reports here, here, and here in order)

Little did I know that the next time I played in a non-team event at Mox, I would be playing.....Grymkin (DUN DUN DUUUNNNNN).

I took some of the principles that we have been talking about on the Podcast (go check out our episodes on list building and tournament prep) and applied them to my pairing.

Quick Note: I'm aware all of these models are not technically released yet - the TO for this event lets you play with any models you physically own that have rules in Warroom.

Specifically, I took two lists that I had played a fair amount compared to everything else, I played two lists that were very functionally different, and I took two strong questions that also answered a lot of other factions questions.

My plan was Dreamer into Khador, Cygnar, some Ret, non-Kreoss 1 Menoth, and most of the Hordes Factions.

She ADR's in Rattlers if the enemy list has a ton of anti-infantry tech OR if she needs a lot of anti-infantry tech since a Miraged Rattler threats 12 inches and kills a lot of dudes with Manifest Destiny up.

The Glimmer Imp is a MAT fixer, the Crabbits are for guns and the Gorehound conveniently filled the missing points!

Heretic doesn't have any terribly bad matchups outside of Nemo 3 I think, so he was just going to play into anything I didn't feel comfortable with the Dreamer.

His ADR lets him swap in Mad Caps for a lot of dudes, Neigh Slayers if the ARM values are too high for Dread Rots, and Glimmer Imps if the army needs an accuracy buff or if I board out a unit of Dread Rots for two units of Mad Caps and need four more points.

The faction breakdown for this event was:

3 Cygnar
3 Menoth
3 Grymkin
2 Khador
Mercenaries
Circle
Trolls
Skorne
Legion
