Battle Report 167 - i5 Team Championship Round 4: The Heretic (Bump) vs. Terminus (Dark Host)

The final round started around 7:30 PM, and we were all tired. 

Naturally, I decided to play a grindy Heretic list into a grindy Terminus list. 

There will be very little words here, this game took nearly two hours.

I won the roll off to go first, picked Desolation and Pandemonium, and got right to it!


Grymkin turn 1:

Everything runs as fast as possible. I make some Cask Imps. 


Cryx turn 1:

He also runs with everything. Terminus leads from the front. 

Side note - I started this game with Terminus, and I loved seeing him on the table again. 


Grymkin turn 2:

Hollowmen do their thing and murder some dudes, so do Cask Imps. I set a bunch of Banes on fire. The Heritic puts a Wall of Fire down.


Cryx turn 2:

Terminus....charges. And, like a moron, I trigger Reckoning on him. 

By the end of the turn he's ARM 27. 



Grymkin turn 3:

I debate going for the assassination for a solid five minutes, but the math just doesn't add up and I start killing his army en masse. 

The Heretic runs away. 


Cryx turn 3:

I lose about half of my left flank, but fortunately, my opponent has nothing to control the center zone with. 


Grymkin turn 4:

I start charging his Wraith Engine with Hollowmen, and I nearly clear the left zone completely, while also contesting the middle zone. I need to bait Terminus into coming close to the Heretic. 


Cryx turn 4:

He spends a lot of time killing guys and puts Terminus in the zone to score a point. 


Score: 0 - 1

Grymkin turn 5:

I keep killing models, including a Wraith Engine, and I'm setting up here for Terminus to have to come to me in order to stay in the game.

Cryx turn 5:

Sure enough, Terminus has to come in, and Darragh has to commit to the left zone to clear it out. 

My opponent scores two points. It's also worth noting that my opponent had less than two minutes of clock left.

Grymkin turn 6:

Things start off nicely with the Glimmer Imp charging Terminus, doing a point of damage, and blinding him. 

Longfellow contributes 10 damage through focus. 

Charging Dread Rots bring the Lich down to 3 hit points, and then the Heretic puts Fury on himself and charges, putting the undead monster down.

Post-Game Thoughts:

While I skimmed over this game, it was actually incredibly intricate and nuanced. I encourage you to look at the pictures and observe model placement on both sides. 

Alright, so with that, my team went 3-1 overall, taking fourth or fifth over the weekend. 

And now I can stop trying to remember all of the details of them and focus on writing Warmachine Weekend reports!
