Christmas is over, and in the wake of gift giving, time with family, and eating far more than I would in typical circumstances, it's time for a favorite among any content creator: a top ten list.
This is meant to be a for fun little exercise to see what the best of the best are across Warmachine; in this specific list, I will be focusing on Warjacks, and will get to Warbeasts at a later date. This is made up entirely of my opinion based on a combination of perceived power level, fun mechanics, aesthetics, or just whatever feels like the right thing at the time, so this is hardly the be-all-end-all of best competitive pieces in the game. With that in mind... here we go!
10: The Corollary
Ok, so, no, the corollary is not an exciting piece to start with, but there's no denying the effectiveness of this little piece. Admittedly it's relative power to the rest of the game went down somewhat in the Mk. 3 transition, just because of the rest of the game gaining Power Up and thus far better focus efficiency, the Corollary is the defining model in the game when it comes to absurd focus efficiency. On top of the already very good Arcane Repeater rule extending its Warcaster's control range by 2", it maintains its focus turn by turn, gains a focus by being near its caster, gives focus to a warjack once per turn... combined with the Induction rule innate to the Corollary and all Vectors, a well played turn can result in no focus coming off the warcaster, but a battlegroup heavy build running every single warjack at maximum focus if it wishes.
This does come with the need to plan out a turn extremely well, which plays into the factions' "Clockwork" motif, but at the center of those clockwork machinations is the Corollary, making the army tick. It's hard not to give a spot on the list to a warjack that basically defines its factions' entire play theme.
I'm not a big Cygnar guy; I played them for about two months and decided it wasn't my thing, and I don't love their lore or most of their aesthetic exactly, but using a Centurion is just a satisfying thing. I have a thing for the attrition game, and pieces that can push a game into the long game through sheer toughness I tend to find a lot of fun to use. On top of that, you have Cygnar's fairly typical MAT 7 and access to buffs like Arcane Shield, making this nonchargeable warjack a seriously insane zone holder as well as attrition piece. It's pretty rare, even at its slow speed, that the Centurion isn't getting the alpha strike on a target, and just represents a favorable piece trade by its entire design. You can usually expect a Centurion to get something done.
8: The Deathjack
Who can't love the edgiest Warjack around? The Deathjack drew many players to the game with its striking visual style and slightly absurd but awesome backstory (random Warjack nobody knows origin of tearing across the land, being destroyed only to appear again at other battlefields with no explanation? I'm down.) On top of this, the actual model hosts a suite of vicious abilities, being able to cast its Warcaster's spells with its own focus, which draws from many of the best spell lists in the game, as well as hold a ridiculous amount of focus to destroy its enemies with. When damaged, it can consume the living to mend its metallic armor. Featuring some of the craziest potential output numbers in the game given its faction and high focus count, its only downside is of course a pretty extreme cost and survivability that, while decent, won't hold up to a concentrated alpha strike. Hard to piece trade up with this guy, but if you can do it, he's a true monster.
This one might be a little bit of a surprise; this isn't really heralded as an amazing warjack, it's more just one that I really like personally. I played Convergence for a little while and the Assimilator, aside from maybe the Prime Axiom, was my favorite piece to use. Ground Pounder gives a ton of flexibility, ignoring a lot of typical defensive bonuses, and the 'jack being a weapon master makes him really effective up close as well. Being a floating Vector, he dies to a stiff breeze but... I always just enjoyed the flexibility a pair of Assimilators brought to any list. Maybe a weird choice for this point on the list, but I just like them. Come at me, I dare ya.
This is a bit of a love/hate feeling towards a warjack, to be honest. I would love to be using them, given the ridiculous flexibility of the gun and melee attack, the good defensive and speed stats, and the ridiculous synergy with the faction in its Ionization rule... but it enables electro leaps to push into ridiculous territories, a rule I think is one of the weakest from a design perspective in the game (but that's a discussion for a different time.) There's no denying the effectiveness and synergy of this piece within its faction, with Cygnar outputting more potential electrical damage than any other, and how solid the piece would be even without this added synergy. A gun, good stats, and good internal synergy? Sign me up.
5: Blood of Martyrs
Had to be some Protectorate on here, eh? Blood of Martyrs is Thyra's 'jack, and as she is one of my favorite 'casters, it's easy to see how her 'jack would be one of my favorite 'jacks. Apparition makes him surprisingly quick and hard to pin down, side step means he can catch opponents at surprising angles, hand of vengeance gives him incredible accuracy and damage output (especially stacked with other buffs), and grievous wounds is very good into piece trades against many more resilient models you may not be able to kill in one go, especially Warbeasts. He's also aggressively costed, sitting at right around the same price point of most of the Protectorate's workhorse pieces (15-16 range), and can get a ridiculous amount of work done against particularly high DEF targets, hitting MAT 11 very easily with Thyra and hitting like a truck at the same time. Just a very strong, fun warjack to use that will surprise you with his potential. He just needs his own sculpt because... damn.
Ah, Imperatus.... maybe not quite the terror he once was, he's still a true monster. Truthfully he acts a lot like Blood of Martyrs, but just at a more extreme level. Further reach, good threat range, vicious potential output, all coupled with a ridiculous amount of survivability that makes it ridiculously hard to trade into him evenly without specific tools (although Blood of Martyrs has those tools... just saying.) I've been on the receiving end of Imperatus screaming across the field a few too many times, and given that he's also one of the very few pieces in Retribution I like the look of, it's hard not to place him high here.
3: The Behemoth
The Behemoth has gone down in popularity somewhat lately, but there's no denying that he's a pretty brutal piece. This guy features near-colossal levels of damage output at range, and with Powerful Attack will just kill damn near anything he is shooting at. He's slow but takes a pretty reasonable punch, and his punch back, especially with damage buffs, is absurd given his innate armor piercing on every swing. If you like huge damage numbers and swinging at "dice +X" against basically anything, Behemoth lets you do that. On top of that, his resculpt is enormous and awesome to behold, making this easily one of my favorite warjacks. Almost enough to get me to try some Khador someday.

Thorn is one of the most frustrating pieces to work around in the entire game, so... personal bias aside, it's hard not to put him high on any kind of "top X" list, no matter how subjective I'm being with it. This is the most vicious, difficult to deal with arc node in the game, on a caster who makes arc nodes ridiculous in the first place. Warjacks can't fight it properly due to losing their Cortex basically instantly, as well as being disrupted, and you can't pin him down in any meaningful way. A few pieces, like the Indictor, can hold him down but can't really even kill him properly. That said, he's expensive, but... absolutely nasty for what he does. Featuring good damage output and a mass of defensive tech, Thorn will certainly be a...thorn... in your side.
1: Eye of Truth
Alright, I've got a lot of silly and subjective things flying around on this list, but let's be real... Eye of Truth is one of if not the strongest Warjacks in the game on his own. His lack of play mostly is tied down to his Warcaster, Malekus, who is perfectly solid in his own right but isn't necessarily the most powerful piece we've got. That said, his character 'jack is a true terror to behold. He's certainly expensive, but brings a gun (albeit a short range one), great offensive stats, magical weapons, immunity to fire which is a very relevant immunity, ashen veil which we always love, a shield, the high end of Protectorate heavy warjack speeds, a bond that makes his Warcaster's entire build work properly since he doesn't have to take anti-synergistic arc nodes, the ridiculous defensive ability Oracular Vision, and the ability to cause not only himself but your own models near him to ignore spell bonuses to DEF and ARM. Giving super-blessed to everything around him is insane on its own, but he's also grossly survivable compared to the typical Protectorate heavy. He can take a punch from another heavy and punch back, and is just all around an absolutely brutal piece to throw into any list.
He also looks like a boss, with a phenomenal sculpt. It's hard not to love this guy. It's arguable whether or not he's truly the best 'jack in the game, but he's fighting for it pretty damn hard.
Well, there we are. My subjective, based on random nonsense list of the best warjacks in the game. Not all of them are necessarily *the* most powerful ones, but they've all got some kind of appeal to them and I'm always excited to see... most of them... on the table.
