Zaadesh 2 (Exalted) vs. Mohsar (Devourer's Host) - Warmachine and Hordes Skorne/Circle Battle Report

I’ve been loving all the games I’ve gotten to play over the last couple of weeks (although my painting schedule has suffered a bit) and the pain train just keeps rolling. This particular game was against Mac running Mohsar Dev Host and Wurmwood Bones. Seeing Wurmwood Bones means I am instantly not dropping Kaiju into the pairing, so I dropped Zaadesh and he dropped Mohsar. I won the roll off to go first and instantly took it, getting an acid puddle for my trouble.

Skorne turn 1:

I can’t actually get into most of his threat ranges, and if he kills an Immortal with a Wolf Rider Champ or Wolf Rider it probably cannot reposition out of threat range from the rest of the unit, so basically my entire army screams up the table. Well, I say “screams” but they only run ten inches. Wait they couldn’t even scream literally since they don’t have mouths…is this the quietest army in the game?! Anyway, Inviolable Resolve goes on the Supreme Guardian and Battle Charged goes on Zaadesh.

Circle turn 1:

Unfortunately, he can happily stay outside of my threat ranges pretty trivially as well. He loads up Lord of the Feast with corpses tokens and puts him up as bait for the Supreme Guardian. Mirage goes on the Bloodtrackers for 1 fury (thanks Harmonious!) and then with a maltreat Mohsar puts down four pillars in my way.

Skorne turn 2:

Fortunately for me, I have incorporeal Immortals on tap, and the left side unit clears off the Pillars pretty easily. The Archidon charges and murders the Gallows Grove and sprints behind the house. I derp on my facing pretty hard here though, as he should have been facing to the left more I think.

The Supreme Guardian gets some souls from my Immortals killing eachother and charges Lord of the Feast and then misses…misses….misses….hits….and then rolls the 9 I need to kill him. That was a nerve wracking moment.

More Immortals die to fuel the big fella since I cannot let Mohsar land a Curse of Shadows on him or he dies.

Zaadesh, now not instantly dying thanks to Lord of the Feast being dead (I jest, I had a sac pawn blocked off if I needed it), moves up and puts down two clouds. I want to be clumped in the middle because of the Bloodweavers anyway, so everything runs central with Grave Mist up.

Circle turn 2:

Wolf Rider Champs handily kill off my Archidon, although one dies to a Free Strike (Woot!) as it repositions out of the way. Wolf Riders kill off a bunch of Immortals and the White Unit CA.

With Mark Target from the Moonhound, Bloodtrackers kill off a TON of Immortals on the right, and basically everything that can have souls is maxed out or close to it. Bloodpack put down the Agonizer (awww) and also pick off my Gobber Chef so I cannot score there.

The Pureblood backs up, Wraithbanes itself, and sprays the Supreme for some damage.

Skorne turn 3:

Vengeance nearly kills the Moonhound. Zaadesh goes first and feats, camping five in case things go south. The Despoiler runs away to be a transfer target.

Immortals on the left clear out the Wolf Rider Champion and a Wolf Rider, and Abidan kills another Rider.

Incorporeal and Grave Mist goes on both Immortal units on the left, and despite missing a lot of fives, I kill a lot of Bloodtrackers and engage everything. They also clear the two Pillars in front of the Supreme, who revives two, Threshers, and kills both the Wolf Riders and my own guys to fill back up on souls. He buys an attack into the objective to kill it for a point. Hakaar kills the Moonhound and sits on the flag and I score a point.

Circle turn 4:

Mac’s Wild Argus does FOURTEEN damage to my Supreme Guardian, which allows his Pureblood to walk up, survive the pitiful Defensive Strike, and put the big guy down.

Bloodtrackers and pack clear off 5 ish more Immortals, but he cannot get close enough to contest. His ambushing Weavers don’t commit because of Defensive Strikes, and I score another point.

Skorne turn 4:

The only things left in the left zone are a Wolf Rider and a fairly beat up Wild Argus from Maltreat.

The Ancestral Guardian charges and kills both, Zaadesh runs into the zone, and I score two more for the win.

Post-Game Thoughts:

This list continues to impress me. The damage output is phenomenal and the defensive side of the feat is great. Everything being MAT 9+ on Feat turn is also pretty addicting, and Zaadesh himself is pretty surviveable. I really need to be careful about my Warbeasts, I keep losing that Archidon for absolutely nothing and it’s a bit of a problem. I’m having a blast with the list, and I’m excited to play more!
